There are more colors in Jaipur than PINK!
Yes, there are lot more colors in Jaipur than just pink.!
The mornings here are greeted by the beautiful Aravalli hills which surround the city from all the sides. Adding to this, there are shades of red and yellow in the sky when the sun comes out of those hills. Local people can be seen worshipping the sun with folded hands.. Be it urban or rural, the neighborhood, hooks, corners and roofs of all the buildings are inhabited by birds. Sparrows, parrots, pigeons, common chiraiya, name a color and there will be a bird of that color around you..
The environment is always filled with folk music and dance. Instruments like kamaicha, sarangi, khartal are a common site and make the journey more musical and pleasant. Puppet shows and musical performances are an expression of the rich cultural artistry of Rajasthan. It looks like Jaipur is always ready for a celebration.
The remarkable forts of Jaipur are magnificent, not only in terms of size of beauty but the sheer display of architectural brilliance. The scientific methods of calculation of time and planetary
movements in the Jantar Mantar prove the excellence of science of ancient India. The yellow/ pink color of these forts add contrast to the brown of Aravalli and also blend equally with the varied colors of the city.
There is a story behind every thing present in Jaipur. From the ancient temples, to forts, even to the current metro construction. You just need to talk to a friendly local, they will tell you all.. The forts and the hills knows them all.. They have seen it all. It reminds us how small our lives are. We are just like flies in front of them. We just come fly for a while and then vanish, but they still stand tall, to see some more like us and build lot more stories.
The folk music and dance is extremely beautiful. Women dressed in bright lehngas and elegant traditional jwellery is compplimentary to men with big mustaches and bright pugrees. People here have learnt to be with people from all over the world. Elephants and camels are an integral part of the life style here. I am not surprized to see the foreign tourists get awestruck witth all this happenning around in the city..
There is something for everyone in the markets of the Pink city. Skirts, dupattas, pugrees, sarees,, what not! Like buyers like sellers. Everything about these markets are a chaos. But whats the fun with out chaos in India? Afterall, we are a bunch of comfortably chaotic people. Overall, this place is like a spread of various colors under pink and any one who passes through, gets painted with one or more of these colors.. :)
